hms Manchester in st lucia

Watching the tell, the navy trying to help after a massive hurricane and remembering we were there last year. Very sad.

In the meantime, Monfy walked out sound tonight and walked him round the arena -he was loose, i was watching his feet. Will turn out tomorrow and see how we go.

RIP Irving Tucker

my late cousin's widower.

very sad...

got the news this morning, and had to drive up to tell my mother in person.

monfy was, i think i said, lame last night. this morning there was a bit of heat and a touch of swelling above the right hoof. last night, however, there was no heat. thinking, more of before. so he spent the day in - and i finally found the boot i was looking for (you put it in cold water, it makes the crystalline gel inside cold, put it on instead of cold hosing...) it was where i thought it should have been, but much easier to find in daylight!

tonight? sound. I turned him out in the arena for 10 minutes whilst i did chores, then went in and he followed me round for circuit. In the meantime, he'd rolled - he sure loves rolling...

so do i turn out tomorrow or not? think i will, and see how he goes (unless he's clearly wrong when i pull him out in the morning). the mud is drying up nicely at any rate

lame again

No swelling or heat but probably after effects of earlier in theweek.

Someone said sore feet but that is not logical in the circus.

Could be brewing an access, i Wouldn't

just for a change

monfy was still out when i got to the yard after work - he's normally been brought in already, as no one leaves any horse out on his own - there were two still out after that - i was quite pleased, as really they've been coming in a bit soon now the nights are lighter

he seemed sound enough but i'll be keeping a careful eye and not doing anything with him for a couple more days yet, i reckon...

looking better!

so i reckon i'll turn him out in the morning....

the mud has been drying out some more (as well as freezing overnight) so hopefully should be ok.

cold hosing in the cold

is an unentertaining pastime! but has to be done, unless i can find that dratted boot (which i won't, until i pack again, i can see that...). the boot is one of the sort you put in cold water and it has crystals in it, you then put it on afflicted leg and don't have to stand cold hosing.... ah well

and of course, this was the week i bought haylage ...which ain't cheap ....

he's pulled something

probably because the mud is drying up and thus making it more difficult to pull a foot out.

so right front ....

cold hosing. can't find that wrap i had that you put in cold water and then put on the leg, know i haven't tossed it but where it is is another matter...

keep him in for a couple of days and then see...
