still a howling gale

and for me, an unexpected trip to mother's as an ambulance had had to be called; after an afternoon of hospital/doctor, the conclusion is that she had a panic attack. but she remembers nothing about it, or the ambulance that was called, or anything much.... she's very in THE moment.... not good...

and from rain

to howling gales.

we're a bit concerned it might catch the roof of the storage area where that hole hasn't been mended yet due to the weather preventing the roofers working....

the good news is that M's feet are doing well despite the wet; the snow of course was excellent for them, and trimmer was very pleased when she came tonight..

from freezing snow to pouring rain

in the space of 48 hours...

oh, and a bit of a gale too!  depressing or what...

however, some "light" at the end of the day (or there would have been had it not been raining, and thus dark!)

still snowed off

and i managed to fry my back lugging water container from sink in house to car, then from car to wheelbarrow, then lifting to pour water into bucket, whilst hte taps were frozen for a few days.  so gaynor's on stable duties until i feel the back has recovered (was screaming every step tuesday night, not clever!)

a paddy....

it was snowing really hard this morning, and i thought M would prefer being in with some hay (given we're currently in Gaynor's stable which has a gated yard in front) than out in the field with nothing to do OR, more importantly, to eat..

so i left him happily eating at 08.15, and at 09.15 a fellow owner texted to say he was having a paddy, had slipped (but not, happily, hurt himself) and did I want him turned out?

so out he was turned.

I reckon the paddy was caused by him seeing others being turned out

of course, when i got him in, he was well ready and hungry!  silly boy..

the one good thing about snow is the horse comes in with very clean feet and legs!  even the white foot is properly white at the moment!

ice stopping play

so as usual if it's not one thing it's another.  yes we have an arena, but it's frozen as well, and too dodgy altogether...

hey ho...

M is enjoying life in Gaynor's stable, though, seems more than happy.. unsurprisingly, i hadn't realised how much larger it is (Charlie being a bigger horse made it look the same size, but it ain't!)

Tuesday 15 January 2013

holey moley

hole in roof! of storage area next to stable due to collapsing wall. horse moved to gaynors stable hay etc being moved into m's stable and minimise anyone's need to go near that space until it's mended !

Wednesday 9 January 2013

and now the lights

there are three bulbs in the arena lights and now the one nearest the gate has gone - until it's mended, there's little point using the arena as it'll be too dark altogether (especially with  no moon either!)

Tuesday 8 January 2013

rain stopping play

again.

Gaynor did take him out for a hack on Sunday, which both enjoyed, but plans for last night and tonight for us all went pear shaped due to more rain....

hey ho....

Two steps of shoulder in

I was most impressed with myself - And M of course:-)

impressed with me for getting the aids right as it's by no means ingrained in my muscle memory, and him for answering
