on long reining...
i had been shown this correctly a few years ago with Moll, but had not practiced and so wasn't getting it....
using the right kit would help.... hence, ML, the anticipated purchase of short Libby's driving reins, and a flexible short driving whip...
anyway, with that kit that RI had brought with her, and some reminders about body positioning, we were going great guns. to practice in walk; she says it'll be a bit before we're up for circles, LOL.
Started off with some in hand work to show her how i've been doing with that, and she was pleased, and said should do in hand before starting the longlining session...
i do have some video, as Gaynor came for the purpose (and for her learning, of course, LOL) but will need to view it/edit it for uploading purposes...
RI was impressed that i have a roller with terrets - got it in Saumur a few years ago (on my second trip to see you, Trudi!) and have never seen any in the UK....
and RI was impressed with the improvement in M's back since she was last here, which was ages and ages ago what with all the various injurious events of the year!
and we finished with G hopping on bareback so she got a mini lesson as well..
Finding a surcingle with turrets is not an easy thing. Handy to have, though, especially if you are going to long line close up to the horse.
ReplyDeleteGlad Monfils is a good student. Sounds as if he did not have much ground training before you got him.
sounds great Claire and that roller is lovely,I remember it well!
