Ooh that looks nasty. Ours(mainlyt Remy!!) are always coming in with scrapes from trying to go through the bushes and trees!
could be somebody's teeth too. Sometimes the boys play rough. Looks like mostly the top layer of skin scraped off. It should be just fine.
Looks like he found a good branch for a scratch under. I'd clean it off with hibiscrub then smoother in aloe gel. He's really doing his best not to be ridden isn't he? :)
I bet that stung when it happened but he probably thinks nothing of it now, that is with no saddle on top of it. Yes, duct tape - the best solution for many problems.
