much as i would like to go for the land rover freelander, think partner's right and can't really afford it ATM; so instead, will settle for an ordinary car, about the same age as the one I've got at the moment...

It did look pricey, but I had no idea how much you had to spend. Years ago, I owned a brand new car, auto transmission, with an engine powerful enough to pull my two two horse trailer, and it cost about $3000. That same car today....probably at least $27000. Eeek!! Good luck in finding something suitable.
