gp and hospital

for conflicting advice

GP yesterday to get referral to local orthopaedic/fracture clinic.

GP said to x, y z exercises to get wrist moving

hospital this morning (was seen over an hour later than appointment time!)

consultant said, don't move it.... see him again 2 weeks for xrays then he'll refer me to physio

the plate has to have knitted whatever, we have to be sure its solid before start moving....

think i prefer consultant's advice...

but they took the dressing off - TBH i think the wrist brace needs some padding, think the scar is rubbing against inside of splint and it's "catching"

  1. sounds like a step in the right direction letting it mend first, guess the consultant SHOULD know what they're talking about!

  2. I'd stick with the advice from the consultant!

  3. I take it you are not in a cast. That would solve the problem of being able to move it at all. H-m-m-m-m. Guess with the surgery and open wound a cast was not an option....so, I'd stick with the consultant at least for another two weeks.

But moving your fingers should be OK. You'll just have to be careful not to involve the wrist.

I was 6 weeks in a cast that did not allow my wrist to move, if that's any help.

  4. I too would go with the consultant. It seems that it would take 6 weeks for the bone to grow/bond with the plate. It's too much to risk - to undo the healing and have to start over again.
