  2. Sad as it is to lose the opportunity to buy this horse, you are really better to have a vetting done.

After all, you don't want another project horse so you need to know that all is well physically.

It's at this point that my Aunt comes out with her favourite saying ...

"What's for you won't go by you"

  4. AS noted on Facebook...I've had that happen to me. It's hard, but you need to stick to your principles. There's another nice horse out there.

Next time, perhaps you could write up and agreement with the seller and put down a refundable deposit pending vet approval. But if it's a sales yard, a lot of times when they have a good horse, they won't do that.

Fortunately, the sales yard where I bought PJ, Si and several horses for other people was good about that. Once you committed to buy, they waited for the vet. But if it's not a high volume business, some yards just can't afford to take that chance.

So sorry. I know you are very disappointed, but it will all work out in the end. Your horse is waiting out there for you to find him/her.

  5. i think the vendor behaved quite badly, really - he knew how interested i was, last conversation was tuesday when i asked could i go down this afternoon to ride - only reason i found out about the sale was that i texted first thing this morning to find out if it was on for this afternoon.

it would not have been hard for him to say, on tueday, someone's coming, and giving me the option of putting my money on the table, which i would have done. never had a horse vetted yet, only wanted to this time to be sensible for a change!

and i was referred to him by vet's wife.

  8. As I was reading, the comment Stephanie posted was rattling through my head, it's one my Mum says too :)

Still very rotten and it's horrid to have the proverbial rug pulled from under your feet. Very bad form :(

It obviously wasn't meant to be and you are right to stick to your principles. It's easy to say but it doesn't stop one feeling blue. I hope you are feeling better about it after a night's sleep. Big hugs to you!
